In short
ABA keeps each purpose for collecting information separate and does not publish personal contact information. We ask only for what each form needs. You can ask us what we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it, at any time.
Who is responsible
The African Biologicals Alliance (ABA) decides why and how the information on this website is used. This notice covers the public website and the forms on it. It was published as version 1.0 for the launch of the website; a legal review follows, and any change from that review will be published as a new version, with the earlier versions kept readable.
Membership interest
ABA uses your name, email address, country and the optional details you give on the membership interest form to send membership-opening news and relevant ABA updates, after you confirm your email address. This is not a membership application.
We record that you gave this permission, the wording you saw, the date and time, and your IP address and browser details, so that we can show what you agreed to. You can withdraw permission at any time using the link in any ABA email. Withdrawing stops the emails. We keep the record that you gave and withdrew permission.
Invited member applications
ABA uses the information submitted through a private invitation to review an organisation for membership. This includes the organisation's details, its ownership and control, the contact person's details, and any supporting documents uploaded with the application.
Personal contact details stay private. They are seen only by the ABA administrators who review applications. If an organisation is approved, only its name may appear in a list of members.
Documents uploaded to show ownership are deleted 90 days after ABA has decided the application. If an application is declined, deletion is initiated when it is declined; failures are retried.
Registration Tracker
Information from the Registration Tracker is reviewed to produce grouped evidence about the sector. Public reports protect the people who contributed. They do not publish organisation names, contact details, product names, registration references, proof or free-text answers.
Contact form
If you write to us through the contact form, we use your name, email address and message to reply to you. The message is emailed to the ABA inbox and kept so that we can follow up.
Who sees your information
Only ABA administrators and the people who run the website for ABA can see what you submit. We send email through our email service so that confirmations and updates reach you. We do not sell your information and we do not use it for advertising.
Fonts and other outside services
To show the site's typefaces, your browser fetches font files from Bunny Fonts (fonts.bunny.net), a font service that does not use cookies. Your browser's address therefore reaches that service when a page loads. The site has no advertising or analytics tools.
Cookies
The site uses only the cookies it needs to work. See the Cookies notice for what they are.
How long we keep information
We keep information only for as long as the purpose needs. The periods that are fixed today are the ones above for uploaded documents. For other information we have not yet set a fixed period; we will state each period here as it is agreed, in a new version of this notice.
Your rights
You can ask us to tell you what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, and you can withdraw a permission you gave. Deleting your information may mean we keep a record that a permission was given and withdrawn, and grouped figures that no longer identify anyone.
Write to info@africanbiologicalsalliance.org. We keep a record of each request and of how we answered it. If you are unhappy with how we handled your information, you can complain to the Information Regulator in South Africa.
Changes to this notice
When this notice changes, we publish a new version with its own date. Earlier versions stay readable from this page.
